Many people here are expressing the opinion “she should have been punished”.
 
What is the purpose of punishment? It’s to reform a person, or to take revenge for what she did? If the former, there’s no need for it, she reformed already. If the later, then I could argue that you didn’t got the meaning of the show.

I have to admit.. even starlight is my favorite villain… her backstory was a little stupid… even obito uchiha had a better excuse

To be perfectly fair though, if you were given objective evidence that your petty revenge over hurt feelings would bring about the literal apocalypse, you’d probably change your tune pretty quickly too.

Except, she was driven by the warped ideology that she could make the world a better place with her practices. Not necessarily a villain. She thought she did good. When Twilight and friends ruined her world. She was driven by revenge. She isn’t exactly a level headed individual. But, neither are the Mane 6 in many respects. She was a passionate extremist who couldn’t handle the idea that cutie marks can create separation. Something that is fair to be upset about. She just a lost individual that believed that others were lost as well. There is potential for a somepony who can change.
 
I do agree, however, that if they wanted to reform her, her character should’ve still come across as conceited or hesitant to change at the end of the finale. Instead of just outright taking a 180 and deciding to be good. She just seemed so far gone that, it would take Twilight believing that she could change, and nothing more. But, I’m sure that she will end up going through some more developments that will justify this in the future. I don’t mind too much.

Make her more interesting and less petty and that will probably happen.
 
The problem with her backstory is it doesn’t make you feel sympathetic to her it just makes you feel like she was always a terrible pony.
 
It’s gonna take a lot of improvement to make her likable but this show has surprised me before so maybe they can pull it off till then however she’s low on the entertaining or likability scale.

She’s been reformed, therefore she’s going to make an appearance (or two) in Season 6. If you look at previous reformed villains, they have made appearances in later installments; Discord made several appearances in Season 4 (as well as Season 5), while Sunset Shimmer has reappeared in further Equestria Girls movies. From this evidence, I’m positive that Starlight Glimmer will make appearances (and will be the focus) in further episodes.

Okay now that I have actually watched the finale I hate Starlight even more now, her excuse for becoming a dictator was just wow, her friend went to magic school and rather than even try to make new ones or visit him she just became evil on the spot by the gods that’s stupid talk about petty and ridiculous.
 
I really hope she doesn’t become the focus of any future episodes.

It’s probably worth pointing out that since this was part of a montage, it’s not necessarily a perfect recreation of how this actually went. It’s probably safe to assume that there was a little more to it than Starlight looking a little bit sad and then they forgave her in less than a second.
 
I mean, we probably won’t revisit this for an entire episode or anything, but that’s what fan works are for.

To all those who think Starlight should have at least faced some sort of punishment for her actions, I’ve done some Garry’s Mod regarding that idea.
