We know the elements were the most powerful “weapon” celestia had, and when NMM would not submit, Celestia had to use them, and even when using their full power (as much as celestia could, anyway) Celestia + the elements still struggled to overtake Nightmare Moon.
I’m not saying LUNA is more powerful, I’m saying Luna + her darkness, whatever she used, was more powerful.
@Daneasaur
Celestia then got back up. That was indicating Nightmare is powerful enough to knock Celestia about, not that she’s more powerful. To use an example in this show, Tirek and Twilight were neck and neck with power levels and able to throw each other about easily.
When she became NMM the first time, in the flashback anyway, she downed Celestia in a single shot. Even when Celestia used the elements in combination with her own magic, it still struggled to overpower NMM.
@Background Pony #19DE
Well it’s never been shown that Nightmare is more powerful. Celestia didn’t fight Nightmare in the flashback because she was Luna. I would assume that her Nightmare form gives her a boost in power, becoming Celestia’s equal. The difference is that Celestia will hesitate. This was her sister and she doesn’t want to hurt her.
Nightmare has no reservations, so she won’t hold back. As for sealing her in the moon?……..Time travel messes up a lot in a world, sometimes even rewriting portions of reality.

New headcanon, unicorn horns can be programmed to automatically target enemies and blast them at the first available moment. XD
Kinda like a turret mode I guess. XD
@Phantom Rider
We only saw those timberwolves for a few seconds after being blown up, and it too longer than that for them to start reforming in Spike at Your Service. There’s literally nothing pointing to them. ot being able to regenerate.
I also don’t see how it’s hard to believe that Nightmare Moon could do so; she’s stronger than Celestia, and there’s zero chance she could use the elements, so there’s no otber possibity.
Not only did she do it so coolly and casually, but (a) there was no sign of it reassembling, and (b) it was running away when she blasted it to smithereens. Sweet Celestia.
(Speaking of whom, as powerful as Nightmare Moon is, I’m not buying her being able to seal Princess Celestia in the moon. Tia did that to her with the Elements of Harmony, and something about Lulu tells me she doesn’t have much in the way of “The Magic Of Friendship” going for her in this state.)
“Ah, my student Twilight. I see you successfully reformed my sister Lu-what.”
“Oh hai Princess! I couldn’t find the Elements but I convinced NMM to come along peacefully. You two can make up now, right?”
“…You are so back to magic kindergarten if I survive this.
