…well, that’s a case of faulty logic right there. Can’t even do a Google search? Those kinds of people gotta get their priorities straight, man.
for example: hating a show because you prefer the older version better to the point of calling out the writing team of the new show to be an insult to the old writing team but the thing is…both shows are written by the same team.

I don’t know, I’m just a sucker for discussion. I’m not one to start a flame war over it (heck, I’ll probably try to stop it or just drop out of it if it gets that far, done the latter loads of times before), but if me and someone else disagree on something, it’s fun for me to see why.

Because the primary reason for deleting a comment is so that someone’s attempt to start an argument or an ongoing one is snuffed out with nothing to reply to. Occasionally, I’ll actually quote a deleted comment when it was someone trying to claim wrongfully they weren’t trolling, and it’s not something that I think will itself continue the argument or leave an insult laying about.

but we all know that’ll never happen. I can’t blame them either, Weird Al does damn good voice-acting.
some deleted comments in my experience happens when some anti-X keeps posting negatively on a pic that he/she hates. unless you’ve seen the comment before it got deleted, it’s safe to assume that it went over the line.
while it’s true that ‘if you hate it, don’t look at it’ works (most of the time), some people find it it’s their right (or are really compelled) to complain about something they hate with a passion (with the risk of igniting drama in the comments).
you never know when something as simple as ‘x sucks monkey balls’ might become a rallying cry for some people.

Because someone can still reply to the comment without explicitly linking to it. And no mod wants to waste the time required to sit there and baby-sit a thread to make sure no one is replying to a comment. It’s much less time consuming to just delete the comment.

It’s actually not as creepy when you get used to it. These Youtubers called “Bin’s Toy Bin” have this plush, and play with it on a regular basis. And the videos with it are hilarious! Check out their channel!

And if mods don’t want people responding to it, I’ve got an idea for that. Why not turn off replying to thumped comments altogether? If there’s a way to make banned people unable to upvote or downvote anything (it wasn’t fun seeing that [Error] box when I got banned that one day, trust me), then couldn’t the same system be applied to comments as well?
