Where does THAT come from? Because nothing in the book said anything of her parents. Just that she was a pegasus orphan who saved a village of Earth Ponies from a witch, found herself in the magic world from Magical Mystery Cure, and became an Alicorn, being ‘raised’ by Celestia after that.

Cadance, according to Berrow’s first book and corroborated by McCarthy, was born a pegasus, but her first chronological appearence was in a hidden earth pony village with amnesia. Several elements in Crystal Empire hint at her being the daughter of the original ruler(s) of the titular Empire, and for whatever reason, her parents were usurped and disappeared, and Cadance somehow got lost in the Everfree with no memory one thousand damn years after she was last seen alive. Based on other sources of time travel science fiction, it’s assumed Cadance re-emerged several years before her home the Empire via an erroneous time lapse, somewhere in the upper Not-Louisiana Purchase, where the village and witch’s lair are located.

I want to read this book so badly. Not even counting the character development for Lyra and Bon Bon, this is likely going to have tons of world building for the Equestrian government. Within reason obviously. I’m not expecting anything super detailed, but anything at this point would be amazing.

And to think that the animators originally placed Lyra and Bon Bon next to each other in crowd scenes purely for the sake of color balance and no other reason.

I cannot believe that they are taking Secret Agent Sweetie Drops and making it the full fledged canon backstory for this character.

Their backstory is established in The Journal of the Two Sisters (also confirmed canon, and written by A.K. Rogers) that they come from somewhere other than Equestria, some land of Alicorns, and they were born Alicorns.  
It also cofirmed that Alicorns aren’t immortal, just long-lived.

Well, the Ponypalooza gets referenced in “The Mane Attraction” and the names of the Pie family members were first introduced in Pinkie’s book, so it’s a little closer to being canon than the comics. It helps that G.M. Berrow is working on the show now.
