That’s what I meant. That the ponies here weren’t reluctant to touch the monster because they were being prissy, but because they knew it would kill them. So Spike, being immune to it, took care of it.

They’re never going to end the Rarispike drama because its in a perfectly comfortable spot.  
Its basic status is: Its possible, but not right now because Spike is too young.
 
And since the chances of there being a significant timeskip anywhere before the very end of the series are slim to none, then they can keep going like this as long as they want, and they want to because its perfect for both comedy and heart-warming moments.

Okay, learned something new. We knew from “Dragon Quest” that G4 Spike was lava-resistant; I didn’t know this was a trait they had written him with all the way back in G1. Little guy is more hardcore than I gave him credit for back then.
