That depends on the definition of “30 moons”. It can refer to 30 days, 8 months, or 2.5 years. Obviously the latter of the three won’t make a lick of sense, but the former are more plausible. It gives time for Sunset to periodically (and discreetly) return to Equestria and glean new information regarding everything you just listed.

It takes 30 moons for it to open, and there were 100 moons between Friendship is Magic Part 1 and Apple Family Reunion.  
Logically, Sunset could have come back in that time and discovered that Twilight had become Celestia’s new student and that her friends were the elements of harmony because they were very famous after defeating Discord in Return of Harmony.  
Also, it is entirely possible that Celestia experimented on the elements of harmony with Starswirl, who was the creator of the mirror.  
So no, they are NOT by any means impossible.

And that’s why EQG is often referred to as a spin-off. Like Torchwood and SJA; they’re a part of Doctor Who, but neither have an (at the most, minor) impact on the main show.

None of this addresses the most basic problem: The events of the first movie (and thus the entire movie series) are completely impossible. Why do I say that? Because Sunset Shimmer’s plan in the first movie is impossible. Why do I say that? Because her plan required her to know things that she couldn’t have possibly known.
 
Let’s go down the timeline, shall we? As we saw in The Fall of Sunset Shimmer, Sunset became very interested in the crystal mirror after seeing her alicorn-ified reflection. She looked it up in the forbidden section of the royal library and learned that it was a portal to another world (and learned no other significant information), after which she went through it and spend several portal cycles taking over CHS.
 
Up to this point, everything is consistent. But then things stop making any sort of logical sense when EqG1 starts. Suddenly, Sunset knows that the elements of harmony have been restored, she knows that the element of magic exists (the second episode of FiM established that it was a complete mystery before it was restored), she knows who Twilight is and that she has the element of magic, and most damningly of all, she somehow knows that bringing an element of harmony into another world will change the way that it works (is she an expert on things that have never ever happened?).
 
See the problem? Sunset spontaneously gained this knowledge while she was still in the human world. This stuff happened while the portal was closed, and magic didn’t work in the human world, so there’s no way that Sunset could have had any sort of awareness of what was happening of Equestria. There’s no way she could possibly know any of this, and yet the entire movie hinges upon her knowing it. Not even a token explanation has been given for her having this knowledge.
 
So the events of EqG1 are impossible, therefore EqG is not canon.

I like Sunset just as much as the next guy, but I really don’t see how the EqG series can be canon to FiM when the events of the first movie are impossible.

@Eeveeinheat: You know, even though some fans may not think otherwise, the showrunners does seem to treat the chapter books as canon to the show. And based off of this exchange, they seem to do the same with EQG. And it wouldn’t surprise me even one bit if they did the same with the comics.

Friendship Games showed us in the very end there’s at least a MINOR connection between both FIM and EQG’s. This is shown when Twilight mentions being stuck in a time loop, Which she was when she was dealing with Starlight Glimmer. Interparate that how you will
