I was also thinking about how sometimes people—and ponies—change their appearance after going through a major change in their life. It helps them feel different from how they were, and remind them where they’ve been, and where they’re going.
I’m really curious to see how the premiere will play out.
My guess is that the flat-cut bangs were too similar to Twilight’s look, and since Starlight’s going to be sticking around for the long haul they needed to give her a more unique style.
Someone said that her old haircut made her look like a mob wife from the goodfellas movie and I’m inclined to agree with them. At least she’s bit more visually appealing now.
Unlike Sunset Shimmer, you don’t have an outfit to change. As such, the best way to distinguish and distance you from your past, deluded self is to change your manestyle.
