You don’t remember her encasing Twilight and Spike in a crystal block and allowing them to fall to their deaths? You don’t remember her maliciously shooting a laser blast at the helpless filly Rainbow Dash?
But nah, we should definitely believe she’s all good now, and certainly deserves all the trust.

Last scene of Cutie Map, when she charged a spell at the equalized ponies, but it splashed against Twilight’s shield since Twi’s CM got freed on the way there.
@BigBadSeed
He is still more important and more focused in the series than Snip, Snail or Zecora. Hell, Celestia should not even appear in the intro at all. Surely he deserve his place in the main shot.

I´d love to see Discord being kind of an asshole to her, but being justified and using against her the arguments the fans have pointed out.
However, it´s more likely that it will happen what you are saying.
@Background Pony #A8D5
What I meant is that their FORGIVENESS, not liking, towards him makes sense.
With Starlight they are trusting Twilight´s judgment who actually has a reason to forgiving her (even if it´s pretty weak in my opinion) and it bothers me that there is no resentment from their part when locking them up and trying to brainwash them in a pretty brutal fashion is worse than what Discord did to them.
@RektPony
Pretty sure she’s front and center in the intro because unlike Discord, she’s now going to be a main character.
The number of episodes a character is in doesn’t determine their place in the intro. If it did, the season 2 intro would have had the title “Derpy and Friends.”
@Background Pony #FA2D
I wouldn’t mind her appearing as side character, oh by the way, There actually are people who thinks Starlight is prettier than Sunset
@Princess Trixie vi Equestria
If she became even more evil for being given the punishment she herself said she deserved even after seeing how much of 1st class bag of dicks she was being then she would have deserved whatever she got and then some. Twilight would not have been in the wrong for holding starlight accountable for her actions.
What really annoys me is the fact that Discord is still hidden in the intro after having like 6 episodes of his own, while Glimmer just appeared from nowhere in Season 5 and instantly became a Mane7th character in the intro like nothing happened. Not sure if this was just bad writing or “SEE BRONIES, We gave you your Sunset Shimmer in the main series!”
@Spinny
On the other hoof, Starlight could be less fucked up than you think as by the sight of how the future ends up without the mane 6 she really got sensitive enough to go back as her revenge was sole against Twilight and not against the entire equestria, Starlight ain’t evil as like the previous LunaNMM, Chrysalis and Tyrek, she only wanted someplace to safely call home and have friends even if they were quite brainwashed.
About her living at the castle, it is like Twilight said herself, Starlight is one of the most skilled unicorns in magic terms, if you put her at a Jail she’ll just end up being more evil and plan even bigger revange, but if Twilight can show Starlight how to be HAPPY the right way and use her power for the good of equestria everyone would be winning.
Because the show’s title is wrong, Friendship isn’t magic, singing is. I mean how do you think Twilight became an alicorn or the CMC got their cutie marks? With songs of course!
But seriously Discord redemption was handled much better IMO. For one thing they didn’t need to wipe his entire character out to create the “Reformed” version of him, he was still the same ass he was previously. Two, his past actions were held accountable towards him. This means that the actions of Return of Harmony still matter, still have an impact and have consequences on the story, heck those event matter even more now. The Cutie Map might as well be non-canon given how little it actually impacts the characters, sans Starlight who seems to be wallowing in self-pity over the incident (which is fine I just want other characters to be impacted somehow by Starlight’s actions). And thirdly it shows our characters in a far more relatable human light, that they have negative emotions situated towards characters that have harmed them, that they hate, that they have those traits and that those traits can help cause more trouble down the line. I have no doubt Discord was turned so easily by Tirek was because the “friendship” he shared with the Mane 6 was so weak, sans Fluttershy of course, and so there was not much there to keep him on the light side, and that good because it shows what emotions can do and drama caused by those emotions and it shows why the good side might be a hard road to travel but why it’s one that’s worth traveling. With Glimmer it’s just “Hey be good now and we love you. Hugs and kisses”, no consequences, no drama, nothing to invest in her as the audience and nothing to suggest being good or righteous should be the road to go down.
I also feel like I’m the only one that’s NOT looking forward to the inevitable Starlight&Discord episode, since I know the writers are going to try to make us fully side with Glimmer and make Discord far more of an asshole than he’s previously been.
@Princess Trixie vi Equestria
That’s logical extension of “I maintain that S6 Glimmer is a separate entity from S5/Villain Glimmer”. S6 Glimmer being illusion/clone/brainwashed double while actual Starlight Glimmer is in hiding, biding her time.
Has it ever been confirmed that starlight is a main7? Sure, she’s in the opening but so is goddamn snips and snails. So far it seems that she’s just there for twilight’s character development as a teacher. Even the movie coming out next year only makes mention of the main 6 going on the journey so she may not even be sticking around after the season 6 finale. So far she just seems like a twilight’s plot device for the season and a secondary character on par with zecora but not much more.
