Well, this one has a strong Spyro/Cynder vibe. The old ones not them Skylander versions.

I always figured that Spike was the dragon equivalent of a unicorn, having greater magical aptitude and all that. It would make sense, since he’s the assistant to a magical prodigy. And I’m sure at least one creator said that his letter-sending fire was a spell. And that hatching him was a test specifically chosen for Twilight based on Celestia’s knowing/believing that she was the bearer of the Element of Magic.

That being only like 2 dragons from the wild. The big dragons from the dragon migration didn’t look like they were hoarding anything.

And whose to say he would? That’s the point. We go by what we know. That transformation was caused by unnatural means and while it lasted, acted an unnatural way. Nothing is certain, but it definetly leaves room to expand uón by stating its different from normal aging.

Spike is already in an environment unnatural for his kind. Whose to say that if the greed was sustained, he wouldn’t eventually come up to the mental level of the adult dragons we’ve seen before?

I don’t remember that being stated at all, and I’ve watched that episode several times. Zecora just said greed was causing him to grow too fast. It was never stated it was natural process for dragons in any way.

When it comes to physical development, “different” and “abnormal” are basically the same. Spike couldn’t think rationally nor apparently even talk. We’ve seen adult dragons can do both. He was just a rampaging monster who held nothing of his real personality, which makes the possibility of it being an unnatural “flawed” thing, more likely.

He’s more likely only 5 or 6 years younger than Twilight, and at least 4 years older than the CMCs.

Actually we don’t see his ‘grown up state’, ever. Remember, when he was hatched, he also grew massive, but was still physically a newborn. The giant Spike in Secret of My Excess was Spike after physically growing, not maturing. Therefore it reveals exactly nothing about whether or not Spike will eventually grow wings as he matures.

Wasn’t it was clearly stated that greed-growth is natural for dragons? But I can see where you going from. Spike’s greed was cheap and promiscuous in that episode, he was stealing 1: everything he saw, including garbage, 2: it was extremely easy for him to do that. I wouldn’t call it “abnormal”, just “different”. While adult dragons we saw weren’t keeping garbage as their hoard, nor it was increasing exponentially.

Thats the same design as he greed-grown model from SOME, which is exactly what is being debated about how that might not be his real adult form due to how he didn’t grow up normally.
 
The point, if they decided they want to give Spike wings in the future, they could simply state that yes, all dragons get them as they grow, and that no, greed-growth is unnatural and that’s why he doesn’t have them then.

That doesn’t necessarily mean they never will put a winged Spike model in the future. That said I don’t think they will because Spike’s not that popular.

Guys, all of this wing talk doesn’t really matter. Whether or not Spike gets wings is entirely dependent on whether Hasbro decides they want to sell a winged Spike toy.
