seems only a tad too intentional, methinks. maybe pencils likes to mix it up with the gown that characters are known to have, I can’t say I’ve seen many artists do that, at least when presenting the straight story in the present canon.

It’s due to the minimalistic colouring style that the comic has.
 
If anything, the weird part is how brightly coloured the rest of Celestia is.
