I call bullshit on that. Trixie was also caught up in the moment because Twilight kept bringing up negative feelings. The episode shows us that she didn’t mean it, and that she really did like Starlight and wanted to be her friend. She even cried and was heartbroken when Starlight abandoned her.

And Trixie said she just wanted to be friends so she could beat Twilight. Twilight was worried Trixie could be a bad influence, and she was right when Starlight skipped that very important dinner without even telling her.

Twilight was instigating Trixie and trying to get rid of her very first friend. Twilight flat out said that she didn’t want them to be friends.

They can still be funny and enjoyable, but they seem to have some serious issues whenever they’re going for serious topics. After the Nightmare Rarity arch, was there one that didn’t feel like a huge mess?

More than just catty. She manipulated Starlight into staying to help with her trick as soon as she knew it would mean she would miss Twilight’s dinner. She did that to show her up, deliberately. She even admitted it at the end.

I used to defend the comics, but after the “siege of the crystal kingdom”’s bullshit i want them retgone out of existence.

not really, she was just being a bit catty and openly hostile but not doing everything in her power to drive a wedge between starlight and twilight. the problem of the episode stems more from twilight being unnecessarily hostile and driving a wedge between herself ans starlight by herself.  
trixie was just kinda there in the end.

It’s a touchy subject I guess. Trixie and Twilight have vastly different lives, comparing them highlights how unfair the show can be. With Starlight in the equation, it’s even more of a problem.

Honestly, going off the trailer, I was expecting Trixie to have some of her inferiority complex angst over the fact that Twilight had wings. Then it’s not addressed at all in the episode.

I’m not surprised since the show overrides the comics in continuity.
 
What I’m still surprised at is the hostility from Twilight towards Trixie, and how much that made her seem like a hypocrite considering the demon she’s letting prance around her house freely.
 
Trixie would’ve never done what she did if she wasn’t hypnotized by the amulet. She’s a magician, an entertainer. Why would she conscincly hurt the people watching her I.e. her source of income?
 
I would’ve expected Her and Twilight to be awkward with each other in the same room, but not at each other’s throats like that, I would’ve also expected Trixie to learn from the end of “Magic Duel” and at the very least show an ounce of humility. At least to Twilight. But again, what do I know?

Especially when they’re doing everything in their power to annoy you and admit they were trying to steal your friend away just to one-up you.
