Don’t know anything about Overwatch, and that could work, but there are some classes that doesn’t exactly match that well with certain characters (ex. Dash as a healer isn’t exactly fitting). It’s not really in Fluttershy’s personality to charge at someone head-on so I can’t really imagine her being a tank class.

The Fluttershy as healer thing has been done to death. Fans have turned her into a one note character. It’s become stale, boring, and so utterly predictable. If you’re focused on Fluttershy’s cowardice, then why not make her a ranged or stealth combatant? Mercy certainly puts herself in harm’s way a lot to heal people after all, so the only real difference between her and the fighting classes is that they’re actually shooting people.

Anyone could be anything, but medic seems to fit, and going by Shy’s personality, I can’t exactly see her willingly jumping in the front lines to get assaults and get up close and personal.

Ponyville already has a vet, so it seems kind of superfluous that Fluttershy would be so skilled. I always kind of figured she knew just enough to take care of the immediate needs and concerns of animals under her care, and maybe deal with common or simple injuries, but if it was something serious then it would probably be something you’d go to a vet or Zecora for.

I think of it more in terms of variety. Making her the healer isn’t bad, but it’s like most people don’t focus on anything else for her, and nothing else seems to get taken into consideration. Even her love of animals only seems to get considered insofar as it supports making her a healer.

At least in overwatch we have a hero with a fascination in wildlife

Another game, another case of Fluttershy being lazily typecasted as the healer. I don’t mean to sound rude, it’s just become predictable at this point.
