Oh my, is this my cue to introduce the fanboy with poor taste who cannot handle the slightest hint of criticism against the corporation ultimately responsible for their favourite series and simply must act as an apologist for them and subtly imply that you and the stereotype I just pulled out my arse are one and the same? :^)
 

They managed to come up with Rainbow Rocks and The Friendship Games, both of which are acceptable even if the latter is somewhat uninspired. They can and have come up with names that are acceptable in the past so for you to state outright, as if it were fact, that anyone critical of the ultimate in generic names is inherently unappeasable is dishonest.
 

That would be because it is. The ideal would be to give it a title that somewhat reflected the content, y’know, like most books, movies, or works of fiction in general?

A lot of movies with uninspired titles end up direct to video. I’m not sure when the trend for anything with a title like Some Franchise: The Movie actually appearing in cinema much less proving a hit at the box office started but it’s relatively recent.

Some feel it was the last genuinely enjoyable SpongeBob ep’. It was surprisingly good. I remember seeing a movie critic on local TV bashing it, mostly for it’s subtle adult jokes, (Like Bob getting a hangover from an ice cream bender.)

…Incidentally, the first Spongebob movie had a $30million budget, and earned $140million in theaters, which doesn’t include DVD sales.

Shoulda called it “The Friendship Paradox”, and have it serve as a universe reboot for G5.

Honestly,what title would have satisified this fandom.My Little Pony the Movie ? Deemed too generic . My Little Pony Friendship Adventure ? (as seen on the russian Powerpoint presentation leaks) Deemed too stupid and generic by the fandom (check the my little pony the movie tag and the forum for proof)? So now what ? Since we brought the faceless hearless meanie corporation archetype,how about it’s counterpart and nemesis,the endless masses of Simpsons Comic Book Guys,hands crossed and perpetual frown in front of whatever is presented in front of them.What title would have satisfied the perpetually frowning Comic Book Guys honestly (because IMO My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic The Movie sound like a mouthful)  
My point is:face it,no matter what they come up with,your kind will never be tickled just the right way you want.

Perhaps, plus some of those C&Ds on Youtube, and such were ironically fake, and done by anti-brony trolls just trying to cause trouble.
 
The show’s always been basically a “toy commercial,” (many forget) but a very enjoyable one regardless. I honestly think most of the toy tie-ins have been more subtle then other shows. Like people complained about “Rainbow Power,” (Which was in the entire Season 4 for just 3 minutes…) and I have yet to see any Flurry Heart toys. Not to mention some characters took years to get toys, so you can’t really accuse some like Coco being made just for a toy.
 
I also find it ironic, that many of those whom demonize MLP for being a cash-cow franchise, (especially the ex-fans) actually enjoy other shows, animes, games, movies, ect. that are also guilty of that. (TMNT, Pokémon, Harry Potter, Frozen, to name a few. I see more merch’ for those then MLP honestly.)

I really do think that fans give Hasbro way to much shit for just doing things that the law requires them to do. I honestly have a feeling that if copyright and trademark law was different, and they weren’t required to go after stuff that they wouldn’t.
 
As for putting toy stuff in the show, people really need to get over that; they are a toy company after all. I It’s all about how the writers use it, not if its demanded by Hasbro or not. Heck, one of the things people seem to really hate this season is Glimmer who was put in completely by the show staff themselves.

You have to give Hasbro some credit though, as they & DHX have done a good job on the show, and at least they respect their fanbase somewhat. That “Slice of Life” 100th episode was their idea, among other things fans enjoyed.
 
Disney (not demonizing ‘em, as I actually enjoy their stuff, just criticising) years ago actually cancelled their Tron animated TV series off their XD network, in fear it would attract too much of an older “brony-like” audience. (Much like MLP:FiM, & Animaniacs did.)  
What’s ironic about this is, Walt himself was quoted saying, (refering to the animation biz) “You’re dead if you only aim for children. After all, adults are just children, grown-up.” So they’re going against his ideals.
 
Though, to be fair, their new Mickey shorts seem to have a bit more edge in them. (Much like his old shorts did.)

Oh for… Nobody’s saying the movie is going to suck or will flop solely because of the title. The title itself is generic as hell though and that could be indicative of its quality, Hasbro’s lack of faith in the product, plain old laziness, or a title decided by a committee of unimaginative MBAs.
 
As for bashing Hasbro? They’re a faceless corporation and while faceless corporations tend to make fewer mistakes when they do make mistakes they’re usually especially stupid. People only need to get burned a few times by mistakes like that to stop giving them the benefit of the doubt.

OP, I’m pretty sure you can ask the mods to take it down by reporting it.
 
Also, The Simpsons Movie came out almost nine years ago? Dang, time flies…

True… Hasbro isn’t perfect, and does make odd choices sometimes with the franchise, but the fanbase does tend to overreact, and isn’t perfect either. I remember fans were still trying to fear-monger, and claim Hasbro was trying to remove Derpy, even AFTER they brought her back in the show, and were making official merchandise of her. (And this was long after “Derpygate.”)
