Truthfully, compared to the Looney Tunes, how many average laymen can name at least five AM characters that aren’t the Warners or Pinky+Brain? How’s the ratio of good shorts to bad shorts between LT and AM? And which one has the better showing in merchandise/collector’s items from the last 20 years alone?
 
This isn’t helped at all by the fact that everything Animaniacs did was just a second (if not third)-rate attempt at what the Looney Tunes already did leagues better fifty years prior, not to mention AM’s endless 90’s references leave it horrifically dated and barely accessible to anyone born after 2000. It’s a safe bet that even thirty years from now, mainstream audiences will still be watching and fondly remembering the original Looney Tunes shorts while Animaniacs will have slithered into the obscure realm of niche interests at best.
