On the end of season 6 premiere, you can see Thorax flying on the background. that moment gave us a clue about the future episode, and from that episode, with the Crystalling, we never saw the Crystal Empire again, until episode 16 aired.

To be fair, though, we don’t yet know for sure if this changeling was Thorax, or some other changeling. If it was, that still leaves the question of what he appears to be holding in that clip.
