They tried to spin and downplay a poll that found that a significant minority of Muslims find violent jihad acceptable when the poll used industry standard methods.
@Vitruvius
The problem with illegal immigration is how it devalues American workers. No company is going to give a skilled tradesman fifteen bucks an hour when there are two dozen illegals willing to do the same job for nine.
I’m a mechanical insulator, I have about a year of experience, and I make twelve bucks an hour.
Twenty years ago, before the flood of Cuban refugees and illegals from Mexico and South America, a mechanical insulator with a year of experience made… about twelve bucks an hour.
@Ridley Wolf
I would prefer that people come through official channels, because that way we have documentation for taxes and censuses and, yes, law enforcement purposes. I think the best way to shift the balance is to focus on making legal immigration easier, not to throw money at boondoggles. However, my understanding is that illegal immigration isn’t nearly as harmful as some people make it out to be.
No, most of them come here because in the United States, the shit wages they can make doing manual labor are still better than anything they can make in Mexico.
Nine bucks an hour as a day laborer may not seem like much, until you realize that minimum wage in Mexico is less than ten bucks a day.
Bear in mind that I’m not defending illegal immigration. I’m very much opposed to it.
@Vitruvius
The Mexican government do send their undesirables to the US. It is cheaper that way. In fact they give them manuals on how to exploit the system. The politicians made it hard to legally immigrate because they want the illegals to come here illegally without control.

Don’t be ridiculous. Who would “send” them - the government? The drug cabals? Frankly, their business model doesn’t require illegal immigration. The fact of the matter is, a lot of desperate, decent people risk their lives to get into this country because even with the risk of death, it’s still easier (and faster) than getting in legally.
@Vitruvius
Hispanic people are generally upstanding hardworking people. However, these are the kind of people who are law abiding and immigrate legally. For the most part the dregs of society are sent over the Mexican border.

Then the family kicks out the bum and finds out he’s been picking their produce all along, and now they’ll have to pay someone else a lot more to do it.

Okay, imagine for a moment that a country is an organism. In the principles of natural selection only the strongest organisms survive. The Native American system was not as strong as the invading European system so therefore the Europeans dominated the Native Americans. Wether it was right or wrong it was bound to happen because of human nature.
Many people around the world consider the US to be a strong and prosperous country at least until recently. This was because their system of government and society was good. The system caused the US to become strong and dominant on the world stage. Politicians are weakening the system on purpose and allowing invaders because they want power, not because the invaders have a superior system.
May of the invaders want to leech off of the rich, prosperous country but many also want opportunity to be productive citizens but the legal route is too beuqacratic and long. This is not because their system is better but because they want to be part of a better system.
An example where the illegal alien’s system is superior would be advanced space aliens which would most likely obliterate the US and set up their more efficient system.
I am going to use a metaphorical example to illustrate my point. Imagine you are member of a family that lives in a house. A bum (e.g. illegal immigrant) sneaks in through the window and sleeps in the spare bedroom and demands to eat food from your table at every meal. Everyone gets a smaller portion to compensate and the bum does not have to do anything while the family has to work harder to make ends meet. Do you kick the bum out or let him parasitically stay?
In another house the family builds a fence around their house and forcibly removes intruders. Instead of allowing bums they interview people and find a suitable renter (e.g. tax paying legal immigrant). This renter has to work to pay rent and help pay for food. The renter gets a nice place to live and the family gets extra income, a mutualistic relationship.
This is a simplistic example because in real life it is more sinister. The illegal immigrants provide votes and power to the head of state.
I’m all for immigrants as long as they assimilate. Trump wants to ease the process of legal immigration and restrict illegal immigration.
@Background Pony #58DF
funny, how america, from the get go, needed to import votes, if you really want to push your reasoning, every white american, afroamerican, or asian descended american have no right to vote. only the native americans.
