People have been speculating that Sunset would become an alicorn since they saw her ‘super form’ at the end of Friendship Games, and her new toy has wings, so finding out that she doesn’t have them is a disappointment.
 
From a character perspective, wings seem like they’d be a suitable reward for Sunset, given the personal transformation she has undergone through the four films, from villain to redemption seeker to a confident leader who understands the Magic of Friendship. SciTwi seems to have gotten them basically because pony Twilight is an alicorn.
 
And to be fair, if there is a place for people to whine about how their favorite characters aren’t treated as well as we’d like, this seems like it would be that place.

I swear if I have to hear another “Why doesn’t sunset get wings or Why is she not in the center” again! Come on guys, is it really such a big deal?

You’re right. We shouldn’t be too hard on the designs. It’s childish, even I know it.

Why is everyone getting so tense? I don’t think the point of the picture is to have people saying who is getting brushed aside and what not. I would really like to say the designs are a breathe of fresh air and they are actually using different hairstyles. Like Rarity really looks good in a pony tail and so does Sunset.

Yes they’re both from the same movie but pony flash doesn’t validate the EG world nor does that link the two worlds since that flash is just a guard he’s not the lad that plays the guitar. It was just a brief cameo years ago, he hasn’t appeared since.  
Aside from that nothing else has been acknowledged from the movies, not even in the alternative timelines in S5.  
All in all a little cameo from a guard from the pony world introduced a the very end of the first movie us a pretty flimsy connection

No. EqG is a spin off of FiM. Both are part of the mlp brand but they’re two separate series. Flash only got a brief cameo years ago and tbh he wasn’t the Flash from the EG world, he was a guard

She’s not mentioned at all, and in the EG series itself the writers don’t want her to go back to Equestria even temporarily, which is why they axed the entire homesickness plot / song from Friendship Games. This also means the hanging thread of reconciling with Celestia is never going to happen, aside from one line in a book saying they’re on good terms.
 
Honestly, I don’t expect her to ever appear in FiM, but why can’t we see her pony form again in the EG movies? But no, a lot of fans (and it seems, also the writers) think that it’ll defile FiM by doing so, despite the first two movies having segments set in the Crystal Empire and Ponyville.

The writers are clearly steering away from school and his attempt at throwing all of unique and interesting aspects of the movies under the title of “magical girl cliche” shows that he just wants to run his mouth and simplify what he hates down to nothing.

– This means it’s extremely unlikely Sunset will ever make even a cameo appearance, especially since season six has made references that basically declare EG non-canon (Starlight being referred to as Twilight’s first and only pupil, multiple times, despite Rainbow Rocks/Friendship Games saying otherwise)
