Oh, no, it’s fine, I just worry that I’ll go into a state where I’m obsessed with being “right” when in reality there is no true right answer (often because of either a lack of prerequisite information for providing proof one way or the other, or because what is “right” is merely a matter of opinion).
While I also don’t consider cyan an objectively warm color, when you’re talking about the color blue it’s a subjectively warm color in my mind, though still closer to being a true blue than a true green.
No, this is interesting. I try to cultivate an awareness of how perception works for deeply geeky reasons. And you’re right, that Lyra’s coat is 20° greener in [HSV] hue than her mane. Her mane though is bang on the same hue angle as
#00ffff
(180° in my picker), but it’s way less saturated than that triple (my head’s “monitor cyan” since forever). Whack the saturation of her coat colour up to 100% and you get#00FFAC
, which is very clearly distinct on my monitor.Colour perception is super relative, and it depends on contextual cues and comparisons within the image. And to me, saturation and value too, and more besides. My hats are off to anyone with a more absolute sense of hue that can’t be tricked so simply.
(I don’t think I could ever describe cyan as a “warm” colour, being starkly opposite pink and red. But then again I use Redshift/Night Shift/F.lux for comfort. It’s turned off now for the sake of this discussion, but I still don’t see it in the Lyra image below.)
(I may be geeking out too much now and I’ll stop.)
that’un’s seafoam. cyan’s more of a warm blue than a warm green. I’ll just drop this now though, since I don’t really want to risk going any further into “judgemental dick” territory.
Although I feel it’s more that she wants to believe so hard, and got lucky that one time. Rarity is just reacting to Pinkie.
Twilight (who has the sense to keep silent about it) and the Monster Incursion Agencies (who would have shut her up very firmly at this point in her life) can’t distinguish between noisemakers and those with the Talent. It’s a very subjective effect until somepony opens a door to one of the really wrong places with all the teeth, hence the deep cover agent. Despite Agent Bon Bon’s best efforts, she doesn’t yet know that Pinkie is the real dea~ || BEHIND YOU! ||
@Greenjack
Did someone say Cyan?……. Never mind. Hmmm. Rarity doesn’t look that Cyan in my laptop. And looks like when she felt her wings unfold’s monitor need some adjustment.
If Rarity is looking cyan to you your monitor might need adjusting.
Or
Twilight: can you spot the pink pony?
Five weird seconds later
Twilight:WONDERFUL, you found the pink pony
Twilight: “Hey! What’s this embedded in the rock?”
Rarity: “Psst! Pinkie! Do something! She’s found a camera! She’s about to ‘Break the wall’!”
