Trust me, I get it.
 
But the Flash hate didn’t come from him not having much of a character… it came from him being a plot point, and a stereotype in “high school movies” that repulsed people. And then it was rubbed in even further when they didn’t bother to develop him into the main character he should have been if they had been serious about it.
 
It was the wasted potential - if you are going to do something, do it right.
 
Plus with all these fanmade personalities - they were created by us, not forced into the spotlight.
 
 
I’m not particularly a Flash hater, and honestly, he doesn’t deserve most of it, especially after his conversation with Sunset later on in the series.
 
But comparing him with (practically) fanmade characters isn’t really that accurate.
 
If he had stayed mostly in the background, and perhaps had a look or two where it implied he likes Twilight, you’d better bet the fandom would have been shipping them to the moon.
 
And if the same thing happened, just as subtly, in Equestria? Yep. I would have probably joined in, too. (Despite my Cadence avatar, I’m not much of a shipper.)

Snips would be Roadhog. Snails would be Junkrat. That’s how I see it.

Listen here, we come from a fandom where we can take a character that sits differently and make her into a human obsessed nut, a character with an animation error on her eyes and make her into a muffin obsessed ditz, a DJ that had less than two seconds of screentime and make her a party animal that’s dating that one mare from the gala episode, or that one gaming colt that had a two second cameo and make him Sweetie Belle’s love interest.
 
And yet when one character pops up and ends up being the object of the main character’s affections he suddenly “bland” and the bane of the fandom’s existence?! And then when someone pops up with the exact same purpose he’s somehow “better”?! The fact that no one even tries to give him a personality like we’ve done with every other background character in the series is what pisses me off.
 
Oh, and one last thing that proves that Flash-haters are all just a bunch of hypocrites: If Flash had been introduced as a female, no one would’ve CARED, if anything they’d be singing a different tune and shipping them like everyone else because “OMG GIRL-ON-GIRL IS SO HAWT!!”
 
Don’t believe me? Well here’s the perfect example of Female Flash:
 
Vinyl Scratch.
 
She as no character aside from being a mute DJ.
 
She has close connections with one of the mane cast.
 
She has a cool car that can also transform.
 
Pretty much almost the same aspects that Flash has, yet everyone love her.
 
Bottom-Line: Flash-hate is pointless, hypocritical, and just plain STUPID.

The ones I’m having trouble with are Sonata = Widowmaker (I can see why, but personality is way too off), Scoots = Zarya (I would have went with the strength aspect- maybe Maud), and Moondancer = Ana.

Even though its obvious in stuff like this people will never agree 100% in everything, I have to say this one does make sense.

Trace was at one point. As for comparisons: both pinks and tracer have very cheery personalities, and can be very quick in the things they do. Dash and Hana are competitive, like to show off, and have rather identical abilities not counting defense matrix: flight and her ult can be compared to dash’s sonic rainboom.

RD and Tracer are both members of the military, Tracer herself was even in the airforce at one point.

Swap Dash and Pinks, and It’ll make far more sense than “characters are pink” and “characters go fast”. Tracers isn’t even fast, she merely changes her own time.
