Oh, yeah, definitely, and it works way better from a story perspective, too. The idea of her skipping a direct solution and jumping straight to a convoluted one just struck me as funny.

Well, considering there are paraplegic ponies in My Little Pony, it stands to reason if something bad enough did happen to her wing, it couldn’t just be magicked all better.

The extra weight I can take or leave, but the glasses, freckles, and alternate hairstyle really work surprisingly well for her. Neat tattoo also, and the whole color scheme here looks really sharp.
 
Funny that she went with a “become nerd” spell over a “fix wing” spell, though.

She goes though all that just because of a broken wing? Man somepony has issues.
