Now them’s fighting words, pal. Even if it was past tense “was” that you used. In my eyes, she always was, always is, and forever will be best pony.
She had the odd good episode to be sure, but because she had so many of the same story over and over, she was the worst of the Mane 6 until Season 6.
Exactly. Which is a-ok by me. And did I mention reforming the lord of chaos himself through means of friendship and understanding? One of my many favorite high points of her character along with her scene in Tanks for the Memories. Oh how I could go on.
True, they did handle that narrative pretty well, every time they retold it, four five straight seasons.
If being shy and trying to overcome your fears, uncertainties, and low self-esteem as well as standing up for yourself when you’re being brought down is considered one-note, then I say her “one-note” character trait was handled pretty well.
Before Season 6, she was a note. One note.

It was up until Season 6, when she actually became a person.
