Yeah, keep in mind that, bro. MLP and EG had suffered by spotlight different characters (Starlight and Sci-Twi). But I would prefer Sunset like the main character in the next specials, not only the third one.

It’s very hard keeping a show quality if Hasbro preferred to risk with a copy challenge than hold its efforts at MLP FiM. But anyways, EG minis are maybe the best toys of all franchise.

Nah. Starlight achieved an important change to the show sharing the spotlight with Mane6, CMC and Discord. But the fandom feels a too much annoying amount if the main franchise made movements to refresh the series, different to the movies to boost a “Monster High brand copy” where any change is welcome.

They share some tropes, no doubt, and I could point detail by detail how “The Crystalling” had Starlight’s arc coded after Sunset’s in Rainbow Rocks, yet failed misserably to capture what made it work. Ever since, however, they’ve been working towards setting them appart, but where one succesfully became a fandom’s darling, the other has yet to endear herself to a good portion of the fanbase.

Do you know that Sunset is pretty much the same route character wise as Starlight?

Y’know what, I totally agree. I too hate it when an evil character comes along, is ‘reformed’ yet continues to do the same things as before except now they’re apparently ok, and causes the protagonists to look like retards as justification for why they’re good/better than before. Instead of introducing them naturally and organically within the setting, they’re suddenly good, and the nominally competent characters will shill them by telling us how good they are instead of showing us. Not only that, there’s a good chance of them completely tanking the narrative because of the stupidity-black-hole that surrounds them.
 
Worst of all, their defenders will wave these concerns away as “hating change” or “being an oldfag,” and will blame the inevitable failure on some secondary fault, not realising that their adulation of this character and everything they represent is the mother fucking reason the whole narrative predictably goes to complete shit.
