I’m laughing hard cause he actually noticed this. Its really true. Starburst’s ship is the only ship out of all the ships in MLP’s fandom that the ratings can actually allow. If the writers introduced Sunburst in S5 as Starlight’s brother, then that ship would’ve been sunk already but that’s not what happened.
They have an anime childhood friend reunited in adulthood trope going on. What’s even more interesting about it is that even if there were no episodes showing any build up, people aren’t gonna question a montage series finale showing Starlight and Sunburst living together in the Crystal Empire honing their magic together.
If Starlight or Sunburst had completely different talents from the ones they already have, then maybe I would think their careers would lead them down separate paths in life. But no. When Sunburst’s talent was revealed in S6, the writers made it clear that “Sunburst’s knowledge in magic is only matched by Starlight’s abilities.” Twilight’s own words. These two unicorns were literally made for each other from the ground up, inside and out.
I don’t approve of any ship involving her for obvious reasons, but if there is one that actually pisses me off, it’s Starburst, probably because, realistically, he’s the only one with any potential (if any at all) for being with her canonically.
