Well here's a headcanon. Take it with a grain of salt but if a pony needs to learn about friendship, how can said pony tell the difference between platonic and romantic feelings? If Starlight has a crush on Sunburst, she probably wouldn't even know and think its just a normal feeling towards a friend youshe really likes.
