“Friendship” took a back seat after the Super Mode sequence. All six of them should have transformed and do the friendship thing. But no, Spike the Dog was the true hero.

Yeah, unimpressed that her super form was NOT enough and had to rely on Spike the Dog to bud in. The fight was not as great as the Four Princess Alicorn Twi vs Tirek fight.

It actually makes some sense though, Spike was basically Twilight’s only friend there at the time (who she recognized as a friend at least) so he was the first one to get through to her.

Ehh…I found the dialogue to be lacking in the scene until SS becomes _{[checkes tags]} sunset phoenix. It works, but it’s too pedestrian IMHO.

I had a feeling that would happen with the Shadow 5. At the least I was hoping for enough of them so that they can comfortably appear in fan works without having invented characterizations. Sour Sweet and Sugarcoat definitely had enough lines to get their personalities down. Indigo Zap less so.
 
Sunny Flare and Lemon Zest drew the short straws for sure. They had like two or three lines each, and they just barely scratched the surface of what they’re like. Sunny seems to be gruff like Aria Blaze, and Lemon loves listening to music on her headphones. Their previously stated personalities (snitch for Sunny, drill sergeant for Lemon) aren’t showcased at all in the film. I’m thinking those two will appear the least in fanfiction (but they have nice designs so they’ll still be good for art).
 
Still really liked the movie.

Just don’t absorb too much Pink Energy!

I think both universes sport too big a cast of characters for their own good. There’s always someone to be left out. And there’s this movie, boasting a double digit count of relevant characters. There was no way out of this. I’m just glad Sunset wasn’t cast aside.
