The name Murdock is actually of Scottish origin; it means “Sea Warrior”.

Not really. Is the name murdock a reference to the Gorillaz band character of the same name? This bird seems to have an eye glass and at some scenes both seem to be of glass making him blind. Perhaps it is a reference to something else but cant figure out what.
Does it really matter? Both names suit the bird.
