I prefer their culture and their fascinating sort of society, instead of their historical crimes. Furthermore, the Japanese have made a nice meme culture of their own, and so do the Russians.
 
If only more people should emulate the Japanese way of life, and not just the cheap anime-worshipping part.
 
Oh, and I forgot that dark horse of the southern seas, Australia: being a developed country with some adequate land and resources (and being mindful of the Aborigines’ lands) should make Australia another possible choice for a superpower, and more so with it being a freer country than Russia.

Are we talking about unethical human experimentations performed for decades by certain (ex-)superpowers against its own citizens?
 
No, I think we were supposed to talk about the objective political and moral decadence of the U.S.A., once a believable and “reasonably ethical” superpower (at least compared to the old USSR), now ruled by a certain multi-millionaire accused of treason (after he called on Russian hackers to take down his political opponent), and the rising of new superpowers among the ex-“third world” big countries (China being the most rich and powerful of them, today).

Well, if you want to be a superpower to challenge the US and China, you need lots of resources and land to build your country. Uzbekistan would have a little more of a chance, but I do not think that it or tiny little Nauru would be able to take on the world stage.

So, which country would you like to see become the next superpower of the world?
 
If I wish, I’ll take Russia, because it is not as poor as India, not as vulgar as Brazil, not as strict as China (yes, I am speaking as an ethnic Chinese person, and I do not like the repressive Chinese government), and it has plenty of resources to take America’s place.
 
Britain and Germany should have done the same, but they need as much as Russia’s resources to overtake America. That is what I think.
