What do you mean that’s not how the Hobbit ended? That’s how it ended in my heart.
So yeah…. battle of the five armies left me emotionally wrecked with emotions that didn’t know where to go. So then this happened.
Time to go draw some more scenes because i don’t need rest.
They sort of addressed it in the movie. So she could stay with Aragorn, Arwen chose to remain in Middle Earth and live and die as a mortal (it being her choice, since she was half-elven), rather than sail into the West like the other elves were doing.
The reason I objected to that part of the Hobbit movies was the whole idea of an elf/dwarf romance went against everything Tolkien had written about Middle Earth. For one thing, they were fundamentally different races (both Men and Elves were considered children of Illuvatar, but Dwarves were created by Aule the Smith). For another, there was a lot of bad blood between Elves and Dwarves dating back to the 1st Age of Middle Earth and a brutal war the two had fought over possession of one of the Silmarils.
I seem to recall canon wise Arwen learned that lesson as well. I always figured the only reason they included that oc elf in the Hobbit was to tell the part of the story they left out of the LOTR movies.
>treating the Hobbit movies as anything close to LotR canon.
Well, that’s the problem right there.
