No, she was, but she changed over time. The clothes started as based off a show outfit, but now I just do whatever with them. She also had horns for a few years, but I forgot them once, so I just dropped them from the design.
Her name and race basis is still from Lightning Bolt.
@LightningBolt
I thought your OC was a background pony from the show. Unless you’re referring to the clothes she’s wearing. Or am I confusing one of your OCs for another one?
@CyanLightning
You should upload that picture (or rather a cleaned up version of it) on here. I always love seeing how some characters evolve over time.
I chose the basis for my colors because brown worked as a more neutral color with vibrancy, and it didn’t flash or say, “I’m happy or sad,” instantly. I then went with something I considered very complimentary with brown, beige. Or, something like it. Maybe a bit more yellow. It wasn’t until I got my OC professionally made by Credus that his mane took on a much more vibrant and characteristic look with brown and purple meeting in harmony, and the coat color took on a much more contrasting, but equally complimenting, color.
@WingbeatPony
Green’s one of my favorite colors, but I couldn’t really think of a way to make it look good as the coat color, so I made it his mane and tail color instead
Not gonna lie, I chose my personal OC’s colors nearly on a whim - the coat color was based on a favorite gray jacket I happened to be wearing the day I fired up a pony creator, and the mane color is loosely based on my own hair color.
One notable exception is the eyes. They were green from the beginning, but it didn’t take long for me to specifically make them the exact shade of green of Derpibooru’s tags!
As for my take on Hide, well, there’s a fair bit of Derpibooru in him, too. His coat colors are derived from mixing the thumbnail colors on the light and dark themes together, making him the second-most invisible DB pony!
I’ve yet to chose exact colours. Just two tone green with brown hooves and greenish-yellow eyes. Care to guess what my favorite colour is?
And dull gray claws if you can see them. That thing isn’t actually a pegasus.
The greens and brown help as camouflage in forests.
I’ve considered adding something more colourful. Splashes of red on the wings or maybe a red and white pattern in the mane. (I actually do have a few red and white hairs on my head.)
@SuperSupermario24
I mean, right on the edge of where orange starts blurring into red. At least to my eyes, I can’t really go any further red without ‘orange’ no longer being the first reaction, at least on the monitor I had at the time. With the monitor I have now, I guess I could go to 55 on the green value, but 44 pushes it down into “nah man that’s red” for me.
(I mean, I could also just use more complex hex values but it was the color I learned when I had to type it out every time in [color=#xxxxxx] formatting for posts, because I was still in my late teens and had not fully outgrown being the worst age range.)
@Keith Mowz
I wanted my OC to have contrasting mane/coat colors, so I just went with very dark purple and almost-white-very-very-light-pink for the mane. I also absolutely love yellow eyes, hence the eye color. I don’t know the exact color values of my OC and I don’t think they actually matter too much. If someone (or even I) drew my OC with colors being a little bit off, I’d be just fine with that.
