Five fingers is faster than saying four fingers and one thumb and just sounds better than five digits. If you know what they mean, and it’s only barely incorrect, who cares?

That certainly is a mutation. It’s four fingers and one thumb on a normal hand.

Really the only bad thing that might arise from that would be some very awkward misunderstandings.

Of course they do. For one, most people only know just enough about biology to think they actually know how it works when they don’t. Two, it isn’t common, and the less common a practice is within a culture, the more people reject it out of hand. Three, a fair amount of traditional and cultural values lean against incest, which helps take the process of thinking out of the equation for many.

People still stigmatize adult consensual incest, huh?
