The only real way I’d protect myself weaponless is to try to brute force my way through and touch out whatever happens to me… Maybe some half-assed attempt at a made-up martial art.
@Jack Sounds like you know Krav Maga (or something similar), are in awesome shape, and have combat experience. Maybe you don’t need a gun, but I hope you understand you’re not “John Everyman” in that respect.
@BGP
With my “fighting ability” I have a 3 option of countering & “destroying” his arm. I have no problems using a gun myself but this would be CQC range and using a gun would bring unwanted attention from the cops and I don’t want to go through with that.
The most common fallacy about gun control is that people think if they are illegal, criminals can’t get them. And if they have a knife/shiv whatever, you’re dead. Unless you’re Bruce Lee or Batman, good luck with that.
And i thought BL with its scoped shotguns was odd.
@BP
Or you could… you know use a less lethal weapon to get rid of him.
Gas (unless you aim it against the wind) is more effective than you might think and you won’t have nearly as much papers to fill out at the locals police station or more problems if the sod dies due to a misplaced shot.
Also if guns are legal then why should any thug use a shiv instead of a gun.
Easy acces to guns works for both law abiding citzens AND criminals who will have a MUCH easier time arming themselves.
A thug approaches you in a parking garage, he has a knife. No cops around, nowhere to run. Do you let him shiv you to death and take your money on principle, or would you shoot him? If you’re not a gun owner, the second choice is NOT AN OPTION. That, my friends, is why some sane, law abiding citizens choose to arm themselves.
I really don’t get what’s wrong with an emotionally and mentally stable person of a certain age and maturity owning a gun for the purpose of protection, collection, or controlled hunting/target shooting.
I think most level-headed people don’t carry guns to be manly. I carry but not because I have a problem with my masculinity (hopefully being a brony is a testament to that statement).
