People will make all kinds of porn with and without same-sex pairings no matter what, but the fear is that having one officially in the show will lead to… all kinds of porn with and without same-sex pairings?
 
Furthermore, what exactly is the harm here? “doesn’t make it right” suggests that someone or something is getting hurt somehow from racy fanart, and I don’t know who would sustain any sort of injury, physical or mental, apart from pearl-clutching puritans and possibly militant homophobes.

My comment is about the show possibly handing these people a green light. Just because it’s going to happen anyway doesn’t make it right.

There’ll be porn no matter what any content creator does, which has more to do with the show’s popularity than the relationships it depicts.

This right here. This is a major reason why there shouldn’t be any relationships with the main cast in EQG or FiM. The moment that happens you hand an argument to those who make porn of the show, and worse you hand an argument to the sad number of adult fans that, at times, push out children and their parents from enjoying the show.
 
Yeah the LGBT community would probably go nuts and some fans would be happy but you create more problems than you solve. Not only for the end or this Generation of the franchise but the next Generation as well.

Im allergic to cats sadly. Parents had to give away family cat when I was a kid after allergies developed. I still like cats but, sadly, I will never be a cat person again. I really miss the little guy.

No, he’s still very much just a dog still. You’re making claims that just don’t match what the show shows, y’know? He still likes to chase squirrels and stuff. He just happens to be magically able to use English words to express that, in addition to barking and running after them. He still clearly has all the same wants and interests as a normal dog.
 
Further, let’s grant all the things you say. Let’s assume that at some point in the future Spike encounters a female dog in heat and expresses a desire to mate with her. Y’know, how dogs actually do. I kind of doubt the resulting “conversation” would fit in the rating, nor would they put it in the show. It doesn’t fit the core message of the show.
 
You’re saying you think the show will A) change what kind of stories it wants to tell, away from stories about highschool girls dealing with magical problems and friendship, to “little boy/dog-thing needs a girlfriend.” B) you’re asserting that changes will be made to make Spike less of a dog than he is and more into a human, in order to explore human-like relationship stuff with him. C) this will happen instead of more shorts/movies/etc. focused on the already human characters.
 
No, he’s still just a dog. Go learn what words mean. Go learn about dogs. Go learn about storytelling.

Whatever it is, Spike still is more that jus a pure dog at this point. His self awareness makes him more than just a simple dog. Twilight, as not just Spike’s guardian, but his friend would want him to be happy. Should Dog Spike ever feel that that meant doggie romance or something along those lines, I have no doubt Twilight would at least try to find a way to make Spike happy. As for why I said calm down, its because you seem to be raging hard over a kids show about talking horses, their human counterparts and a talking dog.

Go do some learning. You might want to start with Googling the difference between sentience and sapience to start, but there is a whole lot you appear to be missing out on.

Being able to talk does not mean sentient, he’s always been sentient. Bolder would be the definition of not sentient.
