Well, I guess Sunset should be called the “Princess of Empathy” because Ishi Rudell said that her Element is “empathy”. Also, Sunset has a crown/tiara with a heart-shaped hole in front of it, two heart jewels on her big poofy skirt, and a traced-heart on her bodice because empaths have a huge heart.

I feel like there was a deliberate sight gag here: Vignette had a set of outfits that the Rainbooms could’ve worn very successfully, but she didn’t care enough to work out which Rainboom went with which outfit. Swap Sunset and Fluttershy, then put Twilight in Pinkie’s outfit, Rainbow Dash in Twilight’s, and Pinkie in Rainbow Dash’s, and you’ve got a really interesting ensemble – but do this as written, and you get an embarrassment.

Sunset can definitely dress like this when she wants to, although her style’s darker, bolder, and louder than what Vignette Valencia had in mind.
 
Even if she isn’t of noble birth, Sunset was Celestia’s heir apparent until The Fall of Sunset Shimmer – and if something permanently happens to Celestia, I think Sunset would be on the throne when the dust cleared. She’s back in the crown’s good graces, and I don’t see anyone else with a stronger claim than hers being willing to take Celestia’s crown and able to rule effectively.

I dunno, she looks quite nice, but she doesn’t feel like Sunset. Makes sense, Vignette clearly doesn’t know anything about the rainbooms.
