I think you’re making a mountain out of a molehill. The crap that those people experienced is not your place to throw up protest signs. Yes, it’s important that we know about what they went through, but this has happened so infrequently that you’d be going on a witch hunt. I’ve been in this fandom since nearly the beginning, and the amount of assholes you find that’re abusive is few and far in between. Toon is probably only the 4th case that I’ve heard about, and every one of these is the talk of the town for a while.
 
What he did to the child is, yes, quite terrible. It’s why we have a judicial system and a code of law and ethics, to catch people that break the law and serve them what they and the community deserve; justice.
 
But you’re here acting like a white knight that can just go crusading about all this.

Well I do know that he’s shaved that beard and mustache off and no longer wears those glasses either, also I only heard that someone on the south side of Chicago found that Red Top Hat of his, that’s about all I know.

Well last I heard was that he was seen somewhere in Chicago, I’m going to be keeping an eye out for him, I got younger sisters and since we live in Chicago I’m not taking any chances.

You’re not addressing my question. You’re dodging it in favor of insulting me. Again, I just want to know your position because perhaps I am wrong, but I want to know that. I want to deduce that based on evidence and logical denomination via moral factors.
 
No, I don’t believe he should be excluded from society because there are far worse crimes, and it’s why we have the judicial system that we do. It’s why we have due process. It’s why we have blind juries because justice is blind and the severity of crimes should reflect the severity of the offense.
 
Keep in mind, I’m not saying he shouldn’t go to prison for a time. He absolutely should go to prison and should be required to apply for sexual offender status. I don’t argue with those basic things at all.
 
But what I’m getting from you is something more akin to crusading. It’s perhaps the biggest, grandest form of moral highgrounding that one can do. It’s the type of thing that says, “I’m right regardless, you’re wrong, and there’s nothing that changes that.” No person who is fit to pass judgement on anyone has that mindset. This is because all people have the possibility to be wrong about something, and thus believing yourself to be right regardless of information, and to be so strong-walled about such a thing is silly. It’s pitiful. It’s the type of ignorance that causes one to do things they may regret later.
 
I’m just trying to have an honest discussion with you. I want to know your position, and for you to know mine, so that we understand one another more and look at these points of view with better clarity.

None of what you’ve mentioned is apart of my question, though. I want to hear your position. What is it that you believe the severity of his actions are, and why?

Every person deserves forgiveness for things that they may learn not to do later on. It’s when someone does something, continually, and then squanders their chances given to them that they’ve demonstrated they’re unable to be forgiven because they already blew their chances. To not forgive him solely on his pedophilia alone is to say, “The fact that you’re human doesn’t matter.”
 
Now, on him as a whole, he’s done various things that make it very hard for me to forgive him, and thus cannot pas judgement without further information and evidence of guilt being put forth. The very reason we have prisons is because it is hoped that those imprisoned will eventually see what they did wrong, have the time to think on it, and go back into society wanting to do better, and different.
 
Now, of course, there’s various issues that get into the way of this, but that’s politics and there’s no room for that in this comment section.
 
In any case, there’s probably a ton of people that are pedophiles, that have done far worse than him, that you’ve probably forgiven not knowing of this fact. A fair amount of important or influential people throughout history were pedophiles and you’ve probably given them a pass or just forgot that they touched children. Nevermind that this was a common practice and was understood throughout many cultures, especially Greek. It was actually a common form of payment for various services, such as education. And yes, there are various individuals that we would call children who agreed to this. It’s pederasty.

As far as I’m aware, he’s at large. I’m quite sure the police have limited resources to dedicate to his case, so searching for him is less productive than waiting for information to triangulate on, which is commonly used in many cases of investigation. Why chase a rabbit and force him to hide when you can wait for it to walk into a trap?

I would like to know where he is right now, did the police ever catch him or is he still on the loose?

What he did was wrong and illegal, but forgiving him is… He did a lot more than just that. A lot of people have come out to talk about how he manipulated them. Those claims aren’t fully proven, but many of them have a lot of witnesses that back those up.
 
If anyone was to forgive him, then it would be a, “We forgive you, but one wrong move and you throw that away.” Something along those lines. I don’t know if I’d personally be able to do that myself, but at the same time I had no personal beef with him.
