No, the Border Patrol is still there (even though they are working without pay). The TSA, however, is calling in sick en masse and not showing up. I guess we now have confirmation of who is “essential” and who isn’t.
I thought it was kind of amusing but the joke is factually wrong anyway because border patrol and other law enforcement are obviously unaffected by the shutdown. At any rate I don’t think any serious discussion is warranted here, bait is bait.

The way it’s expressed is bad because it tries to kindle racist animosities in the Trumpists it targets, even though it is also trying to subvert that feeling for tears and to subvert loyalties. Trying to kindle racist feelings is a racist act by itself, and Trumpists cannot be the only audience of a post like this.

I can guarantee you I’m not a racist. I grew up surrounded by people of different colors and ethnicities. My best friend is transgender and my other best friend is African American. I don’t know where you got “racism” from, this is a joke about people coming into the country. I’m not making fun of the immigrants, I’m making fun of the government.
