Comics gave him perhaps the most deep and philosophical struggle this series has had. In a series where heel-turns basically amounts to “Gets rainbow blasted, is now good”, the comics gave Sombra an arc where he actually believably struggled with his own morality and destiny.
So the joke will be on the show if he returns and undoes it all and he’s just all “GRR, crystals” again.

Chrysalis’s backstory was awesome and the Dazzlings.
I also really like Sombra’s. The ending would have been better if he would have died.
Willing to bet the show won’t give him any background story as much as well….almost every other villain in the show. Comics were basically a scapegoat to do what the show isn’t really willing to do…and then contradict their own canon by having writers barely study anything from not just the comics, but the show itself. This said for both the show and comics. Both aren’t polish perfect things, there’s errors and mistakes, but don’t play one as better than the other because of conflicting opinions.
