@Background Pony #96F7
This is only the first time for them alongside Luna, Cadance, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart. Second for Celestia if you remember A Canterlot Wedding.
Plus, they’ve been in those cocoons for probably several hours to a couple of days compared to the few minutes for Celestia in A Canterlot Wedding. Plenty of time for the fluid within to probably sedate them with how they are struggling to even remain semi-conscious before falling completely asleep.
@Keith Mowz
Still does not explain how they got put into the cocoons as we’ve still been asking that question regarding it happening to Celestia back in A Canterlot Wedding.
I assumed they just used that “drag me to hell” type spell Chrysalis used on Twilight in the season 2 episode to transport them to the changeling kingdom.
@Vaidelot
Agreed, you make a valid point there. Writers using The Worf Effect again to spite us.
@pony2535
Yeah, speculation is always a good way to sort out certain parts of the episode that don’t quite click in your head.
@CBine1994
Yeah, how do they construct those cocoons anyway to look large enough to contain even an Alicorn as big as Celestia, yet still look comfortable enough for the pony within to be slowly placed into a peaceful sleep of suspended animation if kept inside for a long period of time?
@Blissey1
It’s a possibility, though one could expect Equestria’s best warriors to be… more capable of fending off the bunch of drones, even when taken by surprise.
@SuperSonic15
Ya since alicorns/unicorns should be panicking when they realized that they cannot use magic in dire situations, that’s why princessess was subdued without noticing. They charged in as they were confusing.
I feel kinda better now from this discussion, I feel annoying that how on earth why the most powerful characters in the story were defeated too easy. Now, it makes sense alot, using sneak attack and magic-inhibitors.
As for some strong non-unicorns like AJ/Dash, using swarm tactic in the night can defeat them.
@SuperSonic15
Well, it may be true for unicorns… but others (Dash and AJ in particular) don’t need magic to kick a lot of ass. So it’s still strange to see them being captured without a big battle.
@pony2535
Yeah, some of Chrysalis’ armored Changelings might have forged the material into their armor, making capturing the Royal Family and the Mane Six that much easier since their armor would neutralize their magic and leave them helpless.
@thps48
Aha I forgot about that one too since they traveled with Trixie’s wagon, it will take so long time to travel back and forth.
@SuperSonic15
That would explain everything, even Discord can’t use his chaos magic, no pony can then. Still, it’s sad to see our favorite ponies got captured easily. They may forge that material into thier armor while capturing them, no one would expect something like that.
Thorax mentions that Chrysalis’ throne is made of a material that inhibits all magic but Changeling magic. Chrysalis must have had her drones take a piece with them to render Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Shining Armor, Flurry Heart, and the Mane Six unable to fight back against them, making them easy prey to capture and drag back to Chrysalis’ hive to be imprisoned in her throne room, where even if they could try and break out of their cocoons, the close proximity of Chrysalis’ throne blocked their magic altogether.
@Vaidelot
That frustrated me alot that they got captured so easily. Although it’s reasonable to say that they were kidnapped in their sleep one by one, not sure about Luna thou since she shoule be awake during the night.
