Exactly, just because Spike and Smolder hang out with each other doesn’t mean anything going on between them, they just being friends.
 
Look, I know some people want to see Spike get over his crush on Rarity but this episode isn’t the focus on that. After this episode, we might see Spike still crushing on Rarity so let’s not get too excited.

They’re surely close ones, but even in this episode I saw them more as best buddies.  
Also because this show makes it clear when there’s actually love interest, such as blushing, hearts etc, and there was none in this episode l, just them being best buddies indeed
