More like barely, it would be the more accurate term here. What did we see of it? Twilight’s old home, the Canterlot Castle throne room, a corridor inside Canterlot Castle, a dining room inside Canterlot Castle, the outside of Canterlot Castle, the gala hall, a guest room inside the castle, another guest room in a tower nearby the castle, Donut Joe’s, the train station, the caves/mines under Canterlot Castle, Starswirl’s caverns (official comics), Moondancer’s house, the Canterlot Library, some random Canterlot streets (for a few seconds at most), some more corridors in Canterlot Castle, the Tasty Treat, one or two other random restaurants (again only for a very short time), the basement of Canterlot Castle, an airship dock, Dusty Pages’ old home.  
By the numbers, this might sound a lot. But have you ever paid attention to just how big Canterlot is? It’s certainly not the most pressing matter to see more of it, as there are many places we’ve seen much less of or that we’ve never seen so far, but it’s still far away from being completely explored.

So, wait, what?? The EQG franchise is just over? Just like that??

OK, I’ll admit there’s a lot we haven’t seen when it comes to locations, but that seems like a stretch.

Let’s see; we’ve barely seen Yakyakistan, Griffonstone and the Dragon Lands and don’t know what else is there. We’ve also barely seen Mount Aris and Seaquestria and don’t know what else is there. Same for Klugetown. And the desert surrounding Klugetown. And Somnambula. And the rest of Southern Equestria. Come to think of it, there are more towns around Appleloosa, too, we’ve never seen much of them either. We still don’t know where the Homeland of the Zebras is located. Even the Crystal Empire is barely explored. Heck, we’ve rarely seen Canterlot and Cloudsdale in the show even! Not to mention Manehattan! And what’s with Fillydelphia, Tall Tale Town, Vanhoover, Luna Bay, ect? And, look at this, there’s a whole land called the “Undiscovered West” in, you guessed it, the west of Equestria! And where is Saddle Arabia? How’s the life and culture there? And what lies east of Griffonstone, where the map in Twilight’s castle cuts off? And what in the opposite direction? What’s with those islands to the south near Mount Aris? If Equus is a globe, what’s on the left and right side of it? And what at the opposite side? What lands and continents exist there? What’s south of Mount Aris and what’s north of Yakyakistan? Twilight said there are over 50 cities in Equestria during the Grand Equestrian Pony Summit, where are these cities and how do they look? How is the scale of the maps of Equestria we’ve seen anyway? How big is Equestria, really? And how big their entire planet?
 
 
You seriously think “just scratched the surface”, “so much still to be explored” and “There’s still a whole world out there” isn’t the case for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?  
Unlike EQG, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will get a proper end, but I’m still going to tell you here how wrong you are when you seriously suggest that EQG has more potential left than My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

This is worse than FiM ending imo. The Equestria Girls still have more a lot more potential for fun content. I feel we’ve only scratched the surface of the human world and it’s population. Like human Sunset and Starlight and other characters. What about the FiM villains like Discord what are they doing in the human world? So much still to be explored. I hope the rumors about Boulder Media picking it up are true. There’s still a whole world out there waiting to be explored with some cute, funny characters.
 
At least the fandom is strong. We can keep them alive if we try hard enough.

They confirmed that they aren’t doing EG content at the moment.

I am disappointed it is ending, there’s still a few plot threads not resolved such as the crack to Equestria atop the statue base still open.

I hope boulder studios will do their own work.
