I’m not sure why would you take Big Jims opinion as something ambiguous? He was clearly misleading in order to surprise FlutterCord fans. Do i need to remind you that he constantly kept repeating that he only see LyraBon as friends and that he isn’t interested in Mane6 having boyfriends or that Hasbro woudn’t allow Mane6 shipping? You are aware he wasn’t serious as LyraBon and CheesePie is a clear evidence of that.

I share this opinion: My take is the idea behind closed doors was - and is, as Jim Miller pointed out - to leave them as BFF or even in a daddy longlegs-female protégé relationship at the very best. But in a smart move, the writers have played it in way that it panders greatly to us, the Fluttercord shippers. I think they have taken a fair, even salomonic decision.
 
On a sidenote, this has been not enough for some rabid shippers, and I guess a couple of them are on the terrible death threats on Big Jim and his family (I hope he reports their asses).

CheesePie and their kid along with Discoshy and Lyrabon was the only safe bet. Rarity, Dash and Aj have too much rabid fans of Sparity, AppleDash and RariJack for them to show kids belonging to these characters. Twilight would need Flash Sentry and he is too controversial. Pinkie Pie had mostly shipping with Cheese and it wasnt hard to imagine what would they look like. Almost all fanmade offspring had curly hair because Cheese and Pinkie were very similar. This would have been much harder to deduce from Discord and Fluttershy so they left their kids and End Game of remaining Mane6 ships for fans and IDW comics to decide.

because god forbid if cartoon creators should get creative and take advice from the fans, this is why SU and SVTFOE and GF where good they listened to there fans!

The only thing they didn’t confirm is their child, because the show is aware the fandom cant decide whether it would be a pony, a pony hybrid, a chimera or draconequus. Thats the only reason they didn’t show their kid.

I’m okay with them being just friends but I wouldn’t mind either if they were to ever hook up. I’d be fine with it either way.

We can’t just gather from this if its canon or not, just from what we believe.
 
It’s like they think “a lot of people ship them, a lot of people don’t…….. so lets put something in that can make the ones that do some fan service but don’t put it down as canon”.
