Well, I am not Hasbro. None of us here are. We cant rightfully say why. I think the emails said it is because Hasbro is changing the toy line, updating it so it can keep performing well.  
But it is safe to say every brony had about your reaction to the designs, at least at first. It didnt help when trolls dubbed this the “end of pony.”  
Honestly, it took me a long time to accept that these are pretty cute, IMO.  
Now, as for destroying G4.  
That is pure rubbish. Pure internet rubbish. G5 is a re-imagining of FiM as a show, not a generational reboot. According to Meghan, she wants to go back to season 1, do FiM with the lessons they have learned in making FiM, and with the new animation style.  
Instead of a few episodes to start us, a full 90 minute film. Redeemed villains not getting punted off stage because Hasbro didnt want Luna since she was a “bad guy.” Earth Ponies have more importance, Alicorns are more regal and mystical.  
So, to the show creator, G4 is not being destroyed. Meghan is not changing a thing about the themes, story pillars, or even characters beyond the visual designs.  
And honestly, are we fans because of the visual designs alone? Not the writing, not the characters, not the messages, but just the artistic visual design of 6 ponies? Heck no. Let me put it this way, if people can love Sci-Twi, Sunset Shimmer, human Trixie, even though they are humans, we will still love the Mane 6 so long as they are the Mane 6. And according to the leaks, they are.  
And from a fan perspective, MLP is a multiverse. Equestria, EQG, and the comics all live in seperate but connected dimensions. Heck, spoiler here for the Manga, Pinkie Pie has traveled to dozens of other universes, and is in fact a universal constant across the MLP-multiverse. In every variant of reality, Pinkie exists. In fact, managing her is such a problem, Time Turner/Doctor Whooves real job is to make sure she doesnt accidentally destroy reality.  
What is one more reality where Twi was born an Earth pony?  
And lastly, Tara Strong has even said in a spring interview this year that Twilight is returning in the 2021 movie, and that she believes FiM will be returning in a new form.

Its just…sigh…Im not okay with this ending and going in g5 and even change it like that its just so stupid of them going that route.I mean why change 3 of the mane 6 species in the first place for g5.Whats the point of making a new generation and changing it completely and destroy the previous generation timeline.But hasbro didnt renew their contract with Lauren Faust and her team because they want to pay less so they hired a new team giving them less.Its not like that they probably make houndreds of thousands maybe even millions just by their toys from any show.But seriously the species change is just stupid in my opinion cause it ruins everything everyone new from the 4th generation [true generation] of mlp.I mean really tell me one reason why they did that.

True, honestly. And that is something that is charming about the show. This isn’t like, Game of Thrones, or the MCU. These aren’t supposed to be award winning shows, or blockbuster films. They are 22 minute toy advertisements for kids.  
But they are genuinely good! They have lovable characters, good writing, and a message most of us really want or need.

Hope all the sfw & nsfw fanart/animations and etc stays in mlp 4th generatiion and never go in g5.If people give up g4 and go in g5 like that they are fools in my book.The g5 models dont even look good anymore unlike the g4 which they were basically perfect the g5 lacks that element and will never reach it with those models and species change.So Im gonna say it again I hope no one goes in g5 and stay in g4 which is the best.If people see g5 as a better one than g4 just by the models and changes in species they are complete fools.

I’m not disrespecting anyone who worked on the show, but if people are going to argue that “the show got bad when it became about the toys” are essentially arguing that the show was bad since day-1, because the show has always been about the toys.

Also this was done saying they planned on continuing the current EG if the Better Together dolls was successful but they weren’t and keep in mind S1 and 2 was done in between 2017 and 2019 and the dolls toy sales didn’t help them commissioned a third season

Once again, I never said another season. Right now shorts are what they seem to be focusing on for EQG, and there is a good possibility they may do the same with MLP as well.

Look, if you take the time and energy to look into it, you can see Hasbro has no intention of ending EQG. Read some of Hasbro’s statements, take a deep look, and get back to me.

Cuz there’s no competition that’s why Barbie is on way more advanced level. Monster High haven’t had new dolls and EG sales have been Staggered and Mattel isn’t worry about MH cuz they got new dolls in SheRa and DC Superhero Girls to rack more sales with promotions and exposure on Cartoon Network and Netflix something Hasbro never did with the Better Together dolls

As far as Hasbro is concerned though, they care. And as a franchise creators, their opinion matters quite a bit. At the end of the day, EQG is Hasbro’s only competition for brands like Monster High and even Barbie. So long as ending EQG would leave that gap unfilled, they wont be ending EQG.  
Though you are right, they sadly won’t ever let it get as big as FiM or MLP in general.
