Problem is it felt like they lost what makes them as changelings there.(They can still disguise themselves yes but the fact it felt like the core elements of what makes them changelings is missing now).
Something just felt wrong there.
@Pause
They basically did due to assuming he’s dangerous.
With how changelings look even before the Canterlot Wedding would invoke that.
Pretty much the changelings just seem really iffy now after changing there.
The changelings are supposed to feed on love but apparently due to reforming, they literally don’t feed on love AT ALL anymore. Hunger is one thing but no longer feeding on any bit of love at all anymore just takes away what makes them changelings. Nature had them be able to transform in order to feed off of love, but now that is kind of rendered moot and essentially a leftover(yes, they can still use it for other stuff but the main purpose of nature having them be able to disguise themselves being gone makes it feel like a left over)
@nightshroud96
Once again, not a single character in the series ever judged the changelings by how they look. That’s a complete BS excuse just so you guys can justify you’re lackluster reasonings to complain about the writing.
And what identity did they lose? Being menaces to all other societies?
@Azerdoe
The writers sure goofted up.
Really.. Discord shouldn’t been allowed to decide the trio’s fates there.
He really caused a huge mess in more ways than one here.
@Pause
The characters accepted Thorax despite how he doesn’t look so color but pretty threatening(due to changelings are), that comes off as “never judge a book by its cover” but then when the changelings reformed, they ended up being skittlebugs pretty much instead of keeping their regular look. Tossing the lesson out of the window in a way.
Honestly it felt like the changelings lost their identity due to this change. Not in a good way there.
@Harshie83
Too bad that lesson apparently got goofted with what happened with the changelings.
Many fans didn’t like the changedlings’ designs due to it goes against the lesson that was being taught with Thorax and also going “Since you’re good now, you gotta look pretty/no darkness or something” crap.
@Background Pony #DAE4
Nope, that got officially retconned.
The writers confirmed that NMM is essentially a split personality born from Luna bottling everything up.
Pretty much when Luna snapped at Celestia, her dark half fully awoken. Sharing the same pain/issues/feelings Luna had there and carrying them out.
@Harshie83
I just wished she gets called out on basically her speech was coming off as condemning darkness pretty much.
Maybe like Nightmare Moon revives within Luna and just shouts that at Twilight with the issue of how darkness is always assumed to be evil and rejected(and/or forcible changed to light). Pretty much it could be what factors in on Luna/NMM hating how their night isn’t loved enough, its that darkness yearns for the affection and acceptance the light has gotten.
Afterall, sometimes monsters aren’t born but made.
It would be a good lesson for friendship with how you got to accept what the being in question is(be it light or darkness) and look on whats the inside. Like a being of darkness looks terrifying but isn’t actually hostile.
Pretty much don’t judge a book by its cover.
Perhaps she was saying that they weren’t likely to change, but other creatures would, so there would always be more creatures on the side of friendship. If she wasn’t trying to talk them into reforming, maybe she was hoping they’d get the message that they couldn’t win, and just surrender.
@Harshie83
Honestly I didn’t like Twilight’s speech there due to it goes “Light is always good, darkness is always evil” stuff.
I wished they touched more on “darkness isn’t always evil”, like they could have done that with Luna/Nightmare Moon.
