My opinion about the quality of the comics is just as irrelevant as yours; they’re still MLP canon regardless of whether anyone on Earth likes them or not.
Slavery was legal in America for over 300 years, a bunch of people being quantifiably incorrect for a long time doesn’t magically make them right. This has been a settled issue since the first time Wonder Woman went to a definable alternate universe in a Silver Age comic book and nobody ever had any problem grasping the concept of multiple continuities involving simlar versions of various characters until a small group of perpetually unpleasable whiners from 4chan started screaming like toddlers because the IDW comics had the audacity, the nerve, to tell some stories that those whiners didn’t like, so they invented this ridiculous non-issue as a way to pretend that anyone who disagreed with their opinion about those stories was Objectively Wrong™ because the comics were ~non-canon~.
It does not matter even a tiny little bit if the cartoon and the comics contradict each other. Both are officially licensed Hasbro products with Friendship Is Magic trade dress, and both are FIM canon.

Unless the show directly contradicts something that happened in the comics. For example, The Beginning Of The End retconned Siege Of The Crystal Empire, and good thing too. At best the comics are secondary cannon, though I do like them for exploring story ideas and elements that couldn’t be done in the show because Hasbro.

I still remember how desperate some people got for them to be non-canon. It wasn’t really until recently we had actual evidence for them being non-canon. I have lost interest in the comics but I don’t see them as non-canon just because of that. not even sure if I will read the season 10 comics
I remember, a comic story was scrapped, because coincidentally it was too similar to an upcoming (at the time) episode of the show. Many assume it was the episode “Power Ponies.”

Oh yeah, the IDW comics, though the show often ignores those.
Didn’t help when they gave Katie & Andy’s cameo ponysonas a cameo in the rather disliked “Princess Spike” episode, anti-IDW fans went nuts. So they probably became scared to adapt anything from the comics.
I did like Discord mentioning Tirek’s old man, King Vorak, and Tirek’s “Daddy approval” issues to piss him off.

I remember that was a popular fic, but I don’t recall reading it.
I think the first episode to regard her as a mailpony (uniform, and all) was “Crusaiders of the Lost Mark,” the “CMC get their marks/5th anniversary episode.” Or “Slice of Life,” whichever came first.

No, I’ve seen it many times, but that looked more like she was unloading a moving van full of furniture, not a mail delvery truck.
She will be a clumsy mail pony till the end of time.
Hate to nitpick, but in the first half of the series she was never depicted as a mail pony, that started as fanon, (though that fanon sort’ve came from the episode “Feeling Pinkie-keen” where Derpy is seen unloading furniture from a van, though that should’ve made her a “delivery/moving pony” instead) but then it somehow got into the show.
