the premise we’ve seen points to it not being G5 like you guessed. For one, this series will be limited to Sugarcube Corner, apparently.

This is not G5, remember the schedule for the remainder of the franchise, up to a certain point? Most likely this is G4.5
 
G5 is supposed to start out with a movie first
