They’ll probably be used as a way to promote something in the future, either the Pony Life series, the new movie or the G5 series. Sorta like a wrapping up of G4 to get people excited for what comes after it.

Any idea how long clipshow episode is?  
I think they are around 12 minutes each

I think the problem is “how could they release them in a way that would help their bottom line?”
 
It can’t be used to promote the show, which is done, nor promote the upcoming shows/toylines as they’re very different.
 
Maybe after the leaks, they canceled the release as punishment for our sins. Or they’re holding it out as bonus features for future releases.

Yeah like what’s going on? Aren’t we supposed to get like 5 more special episodes? Or was that just a rumor?

I just got word from Big Jim. The specials are indeed completely done. In fact, they were done since June - so this is on Hasbro’s part of why they’re not released.
 
My theory is that it’ll come with the season 9 DVD set, whenever that is.

I don’t see any reason for them NOT to do it - it means more product, which leads to more money! Hasbro wants more money, don’t they? All those corporations do!

My impression is that stuff gets scrapped all the time in the animation industry. Like, you’d be amazed at how much production work gets done for some shows, then they’re cancelled. Fully produced stuff that never sees the light of day.
 
A leak should never be treated as a guarantee.

Give it time.

I did read about those, but maybe the shelved them.

Why would they do that? They’re done! Fully animated, fully voiced, they just need to release ’em!

Maybe it was scrapped?
