See, this analogy backfires, because we all know New Coke objectively had a superior flavour, and more people working on it who didn’t care about their predecessors and their now-problematic motivations. The only people who liked Coca-Cola and complained about the change were bitter, miserable individuals who hated soda anyway. I’m sure we’d all adore New Coke if it was still around today, and had the chance to exist for twice as long as Coca-Cola. Because let’s be honest, if Coca-Cola never existed, and only New Coke, we’d all be even more better off than we are now.

Also the name of the tradition would be changed in this episode too

In season 9, the moral of this episode would have been to let Twilight do it all magically because it’s racist to expect outsiders to conform to the local earth pony traditions and culture.
