Dude, there you go again! Have we even seen an orc in equestria yet? If we don’t even know if orcs exist there, then we know that much less about how well orcs handle spell saftey compared to ponies, especially when we don’t even know what equestrian spell saftey is, which is mostly because we don’t know WHAT EQUESTRIAN MAGIC IS!

@archestereo
I’m judging from the bulky tomes Twilight usually learns her spells from.

Also, I was pointing out that even a brutish Orc has better spell safety than Twilight, And they’re normally pretty lax about safety regulations.
archestereo

@Mayojar77
…well, we haven’t seen books disappear in equestria, now have we? And how do you know what the average size of an equestrian spell book is? It’s starting to sound like you’re projecting alot of the mythos from your games onto the FiM mythos…
Amber

What if Skyla will only be a toy exclusive?

Hey,I can still dream.
Mayojar77
The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@archestereo
Hard to say, but Twilight only opened to the last page, and the book seemed fairly average sized for a spell tome. It likely had more than one spell in it, but Twilight should have really tried reading the rest of the book to make sure it was safe to cast.

And in games where they exist, magical paper is destroyed completely when read by someone who can make use of the knowledge, and the spellbooks always completely disappear, implying the character read every page before doing something like casting a world-destroying-meteor-summoning spell.
archestereo

@Mayojar77
…and wouldn’t it have been OOC for Twilight not to scour the book for a solution like she had before with entire libraries? It was implied she was forced to figure everything out on her own.
archestereo

@Mayojar77
…well, I haven’t played those games…

..but remind me, how thick was Starswirls book?
Mayojar77
The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@archestereo
She didn’t check the book the spell came in. Spike just listed a bunch of possible solutions and Twilight said they wouldn’t work. There’s every chance the entire book the spell came in had a possible solution, or warned of similar situations.

Artist -

She wouldn’t have to give her it, Skyla would be Cadances and Shining Armors child and therefore be granted Princesshood automatically.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@archestereo
Would you use a spell you only just now heard of and were unsure of the effect? Why do you think in videogames spellbooks that only have one spell in them are so thick? Instructions, history, Possible side effects, effects, spell then useful notes. Exactly like you’d write a game manual, except many more pages long.
archestereo

@Mayojar77
Also, it was heavily implied by the exchange between her and Spike that SHE COULDN’T FIND ANY MORE INFORMATION!
Mayojar77
The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@Sjogre
How, Exactly, do you know that? Do you have a copy? Did you co-author it? Please, I’m dying to know.

But seriously, you’re trying to tell me that someone who was once the most powerful mage to ever live didn’t have the foresight so plan for someone else coming across their life’s work and not knowing what it does? Do you realize how silly that sounds?
archestereo

@Mayojar77
I was saying we have NO IDEA what spell books contain outside of what Twilight read out loud. You projected assumptions onto the context and, by extension, assumed that Twilight behaved illogically and irresponsibly.

Star Swirl’s notebook didn’t.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@archestereo
Oh, so you’re saying that you aren’t arguing that the spellbooks don’t have vital information in them to ensure your survival? Because that’s what I got from what you said.
archestereo

@Mayojar77
…oh, you mean that we have no idea how magic works? No, I’m inquiring as to the “exception” you’re referring to.
Mayojar77
The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@archestereo
Are you really so confused that you forgot the point you were trying to make?
archestereo

@Mayojar77
…an exception to what now?
Mayojar77
The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@archestereo
And you disregarded the possibility that Starswirl’s masterpiece was an exception. After all, it had an effect, just not the one that was intended.

Well this man is gonna cross the line between his chair and his bed, maybe stop for a snack, and maybe maybe watch some TV first. no drinks, though.
archestereo

@Mayojar77
Okay, NOW you’re twisting my words, I NEVER ACTUALLY SAID that was how magic worked, I only brought up possible alternatives to YOUR assumptions and pointed out the only frame of reference we’re given as to how magic works.
Mayojar77

We’re Bronies, man. We’ve got to be ready to cross any line!

So would a lot of things. Nuclear power plants, however, are almost completely idiot proof. I say nearly, because Chernobyl was the fault of gross incompetence.
Mayojar77
The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@archestereo
You’re making the assumption that magic books are nothing more than books of nursery rhymes. You’re also making the assumption that Magic is just like poetry, based on the only spell we hear spoken aloud. You’ve also made the assumption that a spellbook wouldn’t list possible dangers a given spell might have.

Oh god we crossed the line, didn’t we?
