This seems to be getting very close to IRL analogies, and it’s possible that people are starting to interpret what is being said here as personal attacks on people who do or who do not support how things ended in the Friendship Is Magic series.

You seem to be stuck in the forum mentality, there OP ask for help, and people answer. In that context, frowning at “necroposting” makes sense. But this is an image. which is why i think its a good thing to not to have some reformed villains just because someone shows the potential to want to do good doesn’t mean they’ll choose it over their own evil intentions. And just because someone shows the potential to be better doesn’t mean u have to give em that chance if they have crossed the moral event horizon especially one too many times.

U know i do get where that background pony is probably coming from, there saying discord will still be around by then when all her friends are gone and by that point he reasonably would have developed to the point where he knows how to help in a effective way maybe not even with a test.

The major issue with Discord is due to he would do it at the expense of others.  
His Grogar plan caused a massive mess and the fact he missed the point of Twilight’s problem.  
His plan would boost one’s confidence that they can PROTECT Equestria(which Twilight done so many times).  
Twilght is worried about all the actual princess stuff with running a nation and political stuff.  
His plan would make Twilight know she can protect Equestria(and lead during a crisis), not actually LEAD and maintain a country there.
 
If anything, Discord’s plan would most likely demolish Luna’s and Celestia’s confidence deep down due to what has happened to them in the finale..

Her evil face never gets old, ever.

It also doesn’t help that Twilight is on such a different wavelength then Discord, she often can’t even grasp what he’s trying to teach.

CronoM just said the only things keeping Twilght more grounded mentally is the other girls(and Spike too, though he can’t do it alone eventually). If Twilght ends up outliving the other girls, things are going to get real messy.

Really not fond of how the writers had the Royal Sisters end up being “inferior” to Twilight like that.  
It was bad enough Luna had to deal with being in Celestia’s shadow, but having to deal with she is inferior to Twilight too like that.. adds salt to the wound.
 
Twilight is sure going to be a huge mess that will bite in Harmony’s flank eventually(or Celestia’s)

Luna also lost a 1000 years of ruling and didn’t get to make up for that nor got to enjoy her destiny of raising the moon due to well.. having to give it up to Twilight Sparkle the “chosen one”.

In other words, Twilight never takes control of her own destiny. Whether it be Celestia or the Tree, Twilight from the start was meant to be a living weapon of harmony and nothing more. Her personal wants and needs were never of any factor, which is kind of sick.
 
And yeah, Luna most definitely got the raw end of it as well.

If Celestia had absolutely zero control over the will of the elements, there is literally no way she could manipulate the book to make Twilight a princess alicorn.
 
Even if Celestia can’t wield it herself, she was completely aware of how to make Twilight a princess alicorn.
 
Remember, Twilight is even more broken then Luna in some respects. Yes Luna is more self destructive, but at least Luna has a sense of identity. Most of Twilight’s identity is defined by meeting Celestia’s expectations.
 
I have no doubt in my mind that Twilight will lose her connection to the elements after all the Mane 6, not including herself, die. Celestia has done her very best to delay Twilights capacity for introspection and self motivation to railroad her into princesshood and immortality, but there’s only so many decades Celestia can influence that. Assuming she doesn’t take the path of never questioning a single word from Celesita’s mouth for the rest of eternity, her connection to the other elements would be paper thin without the other 6, and when she cracks, she’ll crack hard and it will NOT be pretty.
 
Celestia had the benefit of having all her mentors be of an older generation, and she grew apart from her sister after several decades of ruling all of equestia until Luna snapped and she already felt she had no choice but to rule alone. Most of what keeps Twilight grounded mentally is the Mane 6.

I can’t help but feel like the tree was hoping Luna became NMM so it can use her as a “starter villain” for its chosen one.  
Like really.. it felt like the damn tree set everything up so Twilight takes the throne and such as the REAL hero.  
Given how the sisters are essentially screwed over in favor of Twilight there..
 
The tree sure is cruel for Luna’s case by saying she won’t get the Elements back due to “being too broken”.
