Everybody’s worrying about Twilight being replaced when it’s been confirmed that the hasbro executives want her to remain the protagonist. Meanwhile, I’m just here waiting for Luigi’s Mansion 2: Dark Moon.

Because Hasbro never packages alicorns individually. There are only 6 crystal celebration ponies, and 5 of them are the mane 6, excluding Twilight.
When Hasbro wants to package 2 unicorns, 2 pegasi, and 2 earth ponies in a set, they are not going to use Twilight Sparkle for that anymore, because the version of Twilight that would have been used in that way does not exist to them anymore. Twilight Sparkle is an alicorn princess character, so that means that the second unicorn will be somepony else.
The only alternative I can think of is that Hasbro keeps making and marketing Unicorn Twilight as well, but that does not seem at all likely right now. They changed her in the show so that kids would want the new toys, and by extension that means they can’t advertise the regular version through new episodes anymore.
You have to look at this situation the way a toy company would.
This is purely based on speculation. We have one new set and that is for the whole Princess Celebration stuff.

Not phased out, but being moved out of the market space that the Mane 6 currently occupy. Like the other princesses, Twilight will be used to push the more expensive merchandise like playsets and “deluxe” dolls (like the talking ones). Alicorns are never sold individually, so she is definitely leaving the main toyline unless they are going to keep manufacturing regular Twilight (which seems unlikely, at least not for markets where the show is currently up to date).
Even if Sunset Shimmer isn’t taking Twilight’s place in the show, she is in the toy line, unless Hasbro chances their mind and changes Twi back to normal at some point.

It makes you wonder then if Twilight is being phased out of the main toyline, and if so, will it be reflected in the show itself? The other princesses certainly show up a lot, but their presence in the show is a lot smaller than the other characters. I would not be at all surprised if Twilight ends up being put in a similar role– she’d be out of the way, but the writers could still pull her back in whenever needed.
Also, if Twilight isn’t the main character anymore, just imagine how different Season 4’s intro sequence is going to be! (Not that it wouldn’t already have to be a lot different with Twilight being an alicorn princess)

I must say i do find it cool though that they bring in a wrestler Unicorn. If Sunet shimmer does get into the show. And does become Twi´s/Celestia´s/lUna´s/whoever student or friend of the others to be the 2nd Unicorn.

There’s still a lot they can do with Twilight. She’s still extremely nerdy, her social skills still often leave a lot to be desired and they don’t have to bring attention to the fact that she’s a princess every time she’s on screen. How often has Nintendo brought attention to the fact that Mario’s a plumber lately?

Cause her new toys will be released in playsets and such. They NEVER release alicorns in single releases aside from fashion Style sometimes, all alicorns have been in sets with other alicorns, or normal ponies.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who HASN’T written something off as far as this character is concerned. I have been saying for a while that the writers won’t know what to do with Princess Twilight, and this character seems to confirm that since for all intents and purposes it is looking like she will take Twilight’s place as the Mane 6’s #2 unicorn. Meanwhile, most other people have been writing her off as just a new toy.
I was perfectly calm during the whole Twilicorn business, but if they’re actually going to cut Twilight’s screentime and turn her into another cameo character just like Celestia and Luna, then I will be so. Fucking. Mad. That the Tsar bomb will seem like a party popper in comparison.
about that drama tag… call me oblivious, but i don’t really see that much material related to this intriguing new character that strikes me as drama. like, at all. people seem to be reacting with a mix of curiousity and cautious optimism; a definite far cry from the category 5 b’aaaaw-icanes that ravaged the site after alicorn twilight’s announcement. while i do think that this does have potential to turn into a mild-to-moderate shitstorm, right now it feels like we’re on shitstorm watch as opposed to shitstorm warning.

Rinse/repeat till you have the same # of princess toys as Disney, then slightly exceed that amount to capitalize on the idea “all little girls want to be princesses.” Any girl that says they don’t want to be a princess and never did are liars.

You’re not going to get anything out of the writers as far as future spoilers go, which is odd given how Hasbro pretty much posted the entire story of Mystery Cure on their various sites prior ti its broadcast.
Hasbro is as leaky as a rusty old ship when it comes to keeping spoilers a surprise, but they don’t let the show’s staff talk about that kind of stuff candidly, and I don’t expect that to change any time soon.
