That’s not how this works. They meant not a game main character as in not playable in the mainline Pokemon games. They’re basing this whole series on the games not the anime. Misty and Brock are only main characters in the anime and not playable in the games so they will not be here, neither will any of the gym leaders. Hope that clears things up for you.
